Formation of Greatest Number:
To form a greatest number from the three digits given:
1. Place the greatest digit at the hundreds place
2, Place the second greatest digit at tens place
3. Place the smallest digit at ones place
For example to form the greatest three digit number with the digits 4,7 and 9
Step 1: 9 is the greatest number in the digits 4, 7 and 9. We will place 9 at hundreds position
Step 2: 7 is the second greatest number in the digits 4, 7 and 9. We will place 7 at tens position
Step 3: 4 is the smallest number in the digits 4, 7 and 9. So we will place 4 at ones position
Hence the greatest three digit number formed by the digits 4, 7 and 9 is 974.
